Why Akoliam

Post-harvest fish loss is one of the most overlooked problems in Tanzania's fishing communities. Poor drying conditions, inconsistent heat, and no way to monitor the process remotely mean that a significant share of every catch never makes it to market in good condition.

Akoliam Limited was founded to change that. We build smart, connected fish dryers that don't just dry fish — they let you see what's happening inside them, in real time, from anywhere. No more guesswork, no more losses from an unnoticed temperature swing overnight.

We're a young company, and we're building deliberately: real hardware, real data, and a platform that puts that information directly in the hands of the people who depend on it — dryer owners, cooperatives, and eventually, processors and exporters who need to trust the conditions their product came from.

The problem we saw

Before Akoliam, drying meant open air, firewood, and hope. In Kasera, Tanga, and along the coast — these are the challenges that drove us to build something better.
